Data use
What this website and its research chat record, and why.
Visiting the site
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs (time, page, browser, network address) for operating and securing the service. The site itself sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
The research chat
When you use the chat, your browser gets an anonymous session cookie, and the conversation is saved so it is still there when you come back. For each question I store the question, the answer, which sources were searched and read, and technical details for debugging (status, timing, browser). Your network address is stored only as a salted hash, used to enforce the daily limits below.
Questions are answered by a language model through OpenRouter, with the setting that forbids providers from collecting data for training. The model can read only my public profile and published papers. It cannot browse the web or reach private files. Please do not share confidential or sensitive information.
Daily limits and email verification
Without verification you can ask 3 questions a day. If you verify an email address, you can ask up to 100 a day. Limits reset at midnight Toronto time.
Verifying your email links it to the questions you ask in the chat, so I can see who asked what. I use it only for that; it is not shared or added to any mailing list. The verification code is sent through Resend.
Keeping and deleting
Chat records are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. “New chat” removes a saved conversation from your view; the technical record of each question is kept for the same period. To have your records deleted sooner, or to ask what is stored about you, email yufeng.zheng@mail.utoronto.ca.
About the answers
Answers are generated by AI and may be incomplete or wrong. They do not speak for me. Each answer shows the sources and passages it drew on; check substantive claims against the cited papers and my CV. Where the model provides one, a short summary of its approach is shown behind a collapsed line. That summary is written by the model to describe its work; it is not its private chain of thought, which this site neither shows nor keeps.
